A Look At The Offseason (Part 3 – Pitching)

For the last two days, I’ve been looking at what the Cubs offseason will likely look like.  In Part 1 I looked at the infield, Part 2 the outfield.  Here’s where you can find those two posts:

A Look At The Offseason (Part 2 – Outfield)

Yesterday I started a series looking at the upcoming offseason for the Cubs.  In part 1, I examined the infield.  If you haven’t read it yet, check it out here:

Today, I want to turn my attention to the outfield.  The general concensus has been that Milton Bradley [...]

A Look At The Offseason (Part 1 – Infield)

The Cubs enter the off season with a mixed bag of needs.  Tops on the list is a middle-of-the-order run producer.  If things work out, they’d also like to get a speedy, OBP-type of lead-off hitter.  They may even look at adding a bullpen arm.
In the field, the Cubs would prefer to add a center [...]

Are The Cubs Leaving HoHoKam?

The Chicago Cubs have held Spring Training exclusively in Mesa, AZ since 1979 and have called HoHoKam Park in Mesa their Spring Training home since 1997.  But it looks like the Cubs will be abandoning HoHoKam soon.  Could Mesa be next?
A report from SpringTrainingOnline.com indicates that the Cubs have rejected plans to renovate HoHoKam Park [...]

Ricketts Ready To Take Over Cubs

Tom Ricketts and the Ricketts family are on the verge of becoming the new owners of the Cubs and custodians of all of the team’s fan’s hopes and dreams.  According to an article by Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago, the ownership baton should officially pass from Sam Zell and the Tribune Company sometime next week.  Ricketts [...]

Is Milton Bradley Leaving? Let Me Count The Ways

I think Bruce Miles has grown tired of the rumors that say that Rudy Jaramillo’s hiring as hitting coach is an indication that Milton Bradley is going to be back with the Cubs in 2010.  Miles says, “Not tue.”  Actually, I’m putting those words in his mouth, but in a recent post on his blog, he [...]

Rudy Jaramillo’s Approach to Hitting

Wonder what all the hype surrounding Rudy Jaramillo is about?  To hear Derek Lee talk about it, hitting coaches don’t really make much of a difference.  After Cubs hitting coach Von Joshua was released, Lee commented that hitters know their swings and what adjustments they need to make.  The role of the hitting coach, according [...]

Breaking News: Cubs Hire Jaramillo

Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com is reporting that the Cubs have hired former Texas Rangers hitting coach Rudy Jamarillo to fill the same role with the Cubs.  The contract is reportedly a three year deal worth $2.42 million.  The contract makes him the highest paid coach in baseball.
Jaramillo is flying to Chicago today to meet with [...]

Bruce Miles Says Bradley Is Leaving

After my post yesterday about the possibility of Milton Bradley remaining with the Cubs in 2010, I decided to contact Bruce Miles to ask for his opinion.  Bruce was very gracious in answering my question and also very confident that the Cubs will be trading the troubled right fielder:

Is Milton Bradley Really Leaving?

A rumor has been floating around for a week or two that says that the Cubs are going to keep Milton Bradley.  The rumor has gained some buzz in the last few days and seems to be getting stronger.
As best I can tell, there are two reasons for this rumor.  The first is obvious: Milton Bradley is [...]
